Privacy Policy

1. Client-Side Data Processing Guarantee
The core utility tools provided on DevToolNest—such as the JSON Formatter & Validator, JSON Tree Viewer, JSON Compare, and URL Encoder & Decoder—operate entirely within your client web browser via JavaScript execution.
When you paste or type sensitive code, API payloads, database exports, or query strings into DevToolNest, that information never leaves your local device. It is not sent to any web server, API endpoint, or database.
2. Local Storage and Preferences
We use standard browser localStorage solely to remember your user interface preferences, such as:
- Light mode or Dark mode theme selection.
- Tool UI states (e.g. indentation choice).
These settings remain local to your browser profile and can be cleared at any time via your browser settings.
3. Future Advertising & Third-Party Services
To keep DevToolNest completely free and continuously maintained for developers globally, the website may display advertisements provided by third-party ad networks, including Google AdSense.
Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visits to sites on the Internet.
Users may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
4. Website Analytics & Infrastructure Logs
To monitor website performance, evaluate feature usage, diagnose error rates, and improve the user experience, DevToolNest uses Google Firebase Analytics (powered by Google Analytics 4) alongside standard server infrastructure logs.
Usage & Interaction Data Collected:
- Page & Navigation Activity: Page views and navigation clicks. URLs are sanitized so that query parameters (e.g.
?token=...) and URL fragments (#...) are stripped before transmission. - Tool Usage Metrics: General tool actions (such as formatting, minifying, encoding, decoding, or comparing), active mode selections, and non-sensitive counts (such as byte sizes, character counts, line diff counts, and document counts).
- Search Interaction: Search result click positions, results count, and query character length. User-entered search terms and queries are not collected.
- Error Type Categories: Predefined categorical error types (such as syntax error or decode failure). Raw exception messages and parser snippets are not transmitted.
- Technical Metadata & Cookies: Standard browser user-agent, device/screen dimensions, approximate geography, and Google Analytics cookies (e.g.
_ga) where supported and configured in your browser.
Tool Input Privacy:
Developer tool inputs and outputs—including JSON and YAML documents, JWT strings and decoded claims, Base64 text, passwords, encryption keys, and uploaded file contents—are processed locally and are not intentionally sent through analytics events. Our analytics pipeline enforces a strict parameter allowlist and sensitive-name blocker to prevent payload data transmission.
Analytics data is transmitted to and processed by Google under the Google Privacy Policy. Additionally, our hosting provider (Vercel) automatically logs basic technical request metadata (such as IP address, browser user-agent, referring URL, and timestamp) for security monitoring and DDoS mitigation.
5. Content Security Policy & Network Egress Prevention
To guarantee that developer payloads are never accidentally exfiltrated to unauthorized endpoints, DevToolNest enforces a modern Content Security Policy (CSP Level 3). Our HTTP response headers restrict script execution strictly to verified first-party scripts and enforce strict connect-src policies. Even in the theoretical event of a third-party dependency compromise, your browser is instructed to reject any network connections that attempt to transmit payload data outside our approved infrastructure.
6. Global Data Privacy Compliance (GDPR, CCPA, and HIPAA Considerations)
Because DevToolNest does not collect, ingest, or store personal data contained within user-supplied developer inputs, our platform complies inherently with data minimization requirements under the European Union General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR Article 5(1)(c)), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), and similar global frameworks. Software developers handling regulated personal data or healthcare records can safely format and validate payloads knowing that no cross-border data transfer or cloud ingestion takes place.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may occasionally update this Privacy Policy to reflect improvements to our platform or regulatory requirements. Any modifications will be posted here with an updated revision date.
